Behind the Lens: Capturing the Eclipse Project

The Eclipse Project wasn’t just a collaboration—it was a passion project rooted in creativity and a shared vision. Knowing Pelee Island was one of the best vantage points in North America for the Great American Eclipse, I approached Pelee Island Winery with an idea: to capture the magic of this rare celestial event and connect it to the island’s unique beauty and spirit.

From the beginning, I had a clear vision for how I wanted to document the moment. While the vineyards were suggested as a backdrop, I knew the Point—where the eclipse would linger seconds longer over the water—offered the perfect setting. With the help of a close friend, we executed a two-camera operation: one capturing the dramatic celestial sequence and another framing the silhouettes of people against the horizon.

This project reflects my commitment to storytelling through photography, blending artistry, nature, and collaboration into a series of images that celebrate both the eclipse and the essence of Pelee Island.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Pelee Island Winery for trusting in this vision and to the people of Pelee Island for their warmth and hospitality. The island’s charm and the spirit of its community played an integral role in bringing this project to life. This collaboration is as much about the eclipse as it is a tribute to the people and places that made it possible.

In collaboration with Pelee Island Winery, I’m excited to share this special edition Eclipse-themed Sparkling Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé.

Limited to just 1,000 bottles, each one is individually numbered and signed by the winemaker and myself, and includes a professional poster print of the eclipse image featured on the label.

Disgorged during the eclipse itself, this sparkling rosé captures the moment with its vibrant notes of red fruit and a refreshing, effervescent finish. It’s a unique way to commemorate a rare celestial event, blending the artistry of photography and winemaking into something truly special.
