Hello! My name is Ian Virtue and I am a landscape and commercial photographer based in Ontario, Canada. I help eco-focused businesses and organizations effectively communicate their mission and values through compelling and eye-catching visual media.
I believe that we have one opportunity to see everything that this planet has to offer; and in addition, leave our world a better place than when we first arrived. This is the lens that I use to see our planet. Photography has become more to me than just capturing beautiful landscapes. Through this medium, I have been able to connect with people and cultures I never thought possible. By spending time in these fragile ecosystems, I have also learned that on top of only having one trip on this planet, we also only get one Earth. Climate change awareness and habitat conservation sits at the front of what I hope to communicate as a photographer.

What My Clients Say
“I worked with Ian as his editor for a photography book project, "Windsor: Then & Now" with Biblioasis press. His work, recreating historic shots around Windsor, Ontario, was unmatched; our team was thrilled with the quality and creativity he brought to each photograph. Ian is a consummate professional: collaborative, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented. His images made the book immeasurably better, and I would jump at the opportunity to work with him again. Couldn't recommend him more highly.”
— Sharon Hanna, Editor Biblioasis
“Ian is a true professional behind the camera. His preparation and quality of work is as outstanding as his final photographs.
When asking someone to capture the essence of a place, not everyone would understand that ask. Ian does. He sees the physical components of the environment and then is able to highlight what it is about these places that's important. One feels drawn in with a desire to care about the subject of the image. He is able to focus in on the environment and the story behind it.
Ian's amazing ability to create a sense of ease and intimacy between photographer and subject also translates to his portrait photographer.
It's a joy working on projects with Ian.”
— Sue Rice, Pelee Island Winery
“Ian’s photography work is beautiful and timeless. I enjoy working with Ian not only for his creative work but also for his energetic and positive attitude, his integrity and his values are perfectly aligned with our conservation efforts. We are a small group photo tour organization and I would highly recommend Ian and his team to any brand looking to grow their online presence or to have media created for their environmental initiatives.”
